Weekend Recap: FOWA + BarCamp Miami
So, this past weekend I went to BarCamp Miami and FOWA and it was really really cool. I had the opportunity to meet a lot of really smart people and it was really inspiring.
First on Thursday I attended to the second BarCamp Miami. It was simply amazing. Almost everything worked out flawless, there was a lot of people and I actually learned things I might use in some of my actual projects.
I thought it was really interesting the concept express by Santiago Siri from Popego, about creating a central access to the information that normally we are used to spread through different social networks and web apps.
I also had a chance to meet some of the guys from South Florida SEO Meetup, that (if my cold won’t get too bad) I’ll probably see tomorrow night for the first of the two meetups in May.
Friday I went to the actual FOWA seminar, that honestly I didn’t enjoy as much as BarCamp, probably because there was too much distance between speakers and audience. But I really loved the last two presentations made by Cal Henderson, Flickr architect, and by Gary Vaynerchuk, from Wine Library TV. They were simply great. And probably you’ll be able to see both of them on their relative sites.
Conclusion: this was my first conference and it was for sure a cool experience.
Personal note: if you hope to learn some exclusive secret sitting at a presentation you are totally wrong. It’s all about network and getting in touch with all the smart people who usually wonder around in these events.
